One of Madeiran traditional drinks is Liqueurs. The most well-know in the ciuvil parsih of Curral das Freiras is "Licor de Ginja" (Cherry Liqueur).
Homemade cherry liqueur is made of brandy, sugar and fresh cherries.
First of all, pierce the cherries with a fork and put it in a bottle along with the brandy. Be sure that cherries are covered. Then, leave it in the bottle for 3 months.
You can also add cinnamon.
